Adam Lacko's excellent performance at the Most circuit

Last weekend, almost sixty thousand spectators came to the Autodrom Most racing circuit to watch the contests of Europe's best racing truck drivers. Adam Lacko delighted not only all of these spectators. After a break of more than two months, which was caused partly by the injury of his arm and partly by the summer pause between the races, he returned in great form. Right away in the first cup race he claimed the second place, behind his rival Antonio Albacete, of Spain, attaining his best placing of this season.

In Saturday's free practice sessions, Lacko was getting accustomed to his truck again. In the timed practice, he set the eighth fastest time to take a spot in the fourth row of the starting grid of the first qualifying session. In the Saturday eight-lap qualifying race, he claimed the seventh place, that is, he was the best of the three Czech drivers. The cup race saw a collision that occurred in the sharp bend in the rear section of the circuit shortly after the start. Lacko and Vojtíšek took advantage of their perfect acquaintance with their domestic track, and forced their way through the pack of drivers involved in the collisions to start chasing Albacete, who was in the lead. Lacko even overtook Vojtíšek soon and, owing to his excellent way of driving, defended the second place up to the finish of the eleven-lap race. Before the podium ceremony, Lacko expressed his satisfaction: 'After all, Albacete had a considerable advantage, so I did not manage to catch up with him in the final stage of the race. But I am very glad that I have attained such a result at our domestic circuit, and I hope that the rest of the second half of this season will turn out considerably better than the end of the first half.'

In the two Sunday races, Adam Lacko claimed a fine eighth place. So, he scored 25 points for the championship's classification over the weekend. After the domestic racing event, he is eighth, with 56 points, one point ahead of another Czech driver, Vojtíšek.

Scenes from the races of the European Truck Racing Cup which were held within the framework of the 2006 MATADOR CZECH TRUCK PRIX in Most will be featured in the EUROSPORT channel's premiere program on Tuesday, 12 September, at 23.00.
