- 23. 3. 2006, Prague -
The General Manager of the INTERNET EXPRES Prima Team, Stanislav Matějovský, presented the main plans of the team for the year 2006. At the press conference held on 23 March 2006 in Hotel Ambassador, Prague, he said: 'In the sphere of activities within the Czech Republic, our main intention is to apply ourselves to the team's presentation in domestic circuit races, such as the Česká pojišťovna Škoda Octavia Cup and the International Racing Circuit Championship of the Czech Republic. In this field, in addition to the drivers of the last year, several new talents will join our team. One of them is for example the successful karting driver Filip Albrecht, and others.
With respect to the sphere of races abroad, we will fully revert back to the European Truck Racing Cup. The races of this series have gained in popularity again in the course of the last year and, moreover, a high number of top-ranking drivers are involved there, which is a great challenge for us, as well as for our first-priority driver Adam Lacko, who only took part in these races as a guest-driver last year. So, he is coming back to be in full play this year.
However, we have not abandoned our project of providing the opportunity for some of our outstanding young drivers to excel in prestigious races abroad. Adam Lacko, who tried not only the FIA WTCC races, but also several races of the FIA GT series last year, will be followed by Jiří Janák, the winner of the last year of the Octavia Cup, who will contest selected races of the FIA World Touring Car Championship (FIA WTCC) this year. Some of our drivers will also take part in the racing series Carerra Cup or Divinol Cup that are held abroad. Nevertheless, we will be particularly concentrating on the participation of our team in the European Truck Racing Cup. Our objective with respect to this series is to attain the best placings within three years.'
Numerous questions of journalists were answered not only by Stanislav Matějovský, but also by other participants in the press conference and by Mr Martin Dvořák, the General Director of the TV Prima television station, the team's media partner. When the press conference was over, the participants went to the Wenceslas Square, to the area in front of Hotel Ambassador, where Mr Martin Dvořák traditionally, with champagne, launched Adam Lacko's race truck and Michal Matějovský's Octavia car, and proposed a toast to all the cars, drivers, and to the whole team, wishing them the successful season of 2006.
There is a really tight program ahead of the team. Straight away at the beginning of the next week, a three-day testing event will take place at the racing circuit in the town of Most, and the first races abroad will follow. Towards the end of April, the INTERNET EXPRES Prima Team's drivers will take part in the Brno Spring Prix, the traditional opening event of the racing circuit season in the Czech Republic.
