Award ceremony for the Octavia Cup winners |
- 24. 11. 2006, Mělník -On Friday, 24 November, the drivers and representatives of teams met in the Concert Hall of the Melnik Castle to attend the traditional award ceremony for the winners of the 2006 Česká pojišťovna - Škoda Octavia Cup. This year of the series was the tenth in a row. The victory was taken by Jiří Janák, while Jiří Navrátil and Václav Brejla were second and third respectively, with Michal Matějovský coming fourth. Stanislav Matějovský received the cup for his team's second place in the teams' competition; his team came closely behind the 'ACA Autocentrála Hlučín', the winning team, ahead of the third placed 'Auto Brejla'. After he had received the award, Stanislav Matějovský, the general manager of the team, said: 'Naturally, taking into account the course of this year of the series, we were even thinking of a better placing. In any case, I am highly satisfied with the second place in the teams' competition and with Michal's coming fourth in the drivers' competition. This is our best placing so far.' The ceremony was also attended by the representatives of the companies Česká pojišťovna, Škoda Auto and Matador Motorsport and, moreover, by the representatives of the RING Group promoter and of the Czech motor-car association 'Autoklub České republiky'; all of them expressed their satisfaction with the course of the tenth year of the series and, in conclusion of the ceremony, wished the participants good luck for the next motor-sport season. The evening program also included the performance of the Clarinet Society band and the performance of Iva Frühling and her musical group, while sports reporters Vojtěch Bernatský and Petr Svěcený provided the entertaining part of the program. The first race of the next year of the Česká pojišťovna - Škoda Octavia Cup series is held at the Autodrom Most racing circuit at the second weekend of May 2007, that is, from 11 to 13 May 2007. |
