The Grand Prix of the Czech Republic, an event of the well-known MotoGP series, took place in front of the crowded grandstands of the Brno Masaryk Circuit. Among the guests to this great motorcycle sports event naturally was the SUNRED-BRT team's racing driver Michal Matějovský, who had been invited by MotoGP rider Karel Abrahám and his team. Karel Abrahám contests the 250cc category of the MotoGP series. On Sunday, however, he was dogged by bad luck, as he had to retire from the race just 10 seconds after the start, right in the approach to the first turn, due to a collision with Lüthi, of Switzerland. Both riders ended up tumbling off the track.

'Needless to say, this has been a great disappointment for Karel, and I am very much sorry for him. But that is how it goes in motorsport and nothing can be done about it. I have myself experienced several such situations this year. That is, fine results from the practice and qualifying sessions, and then, like with Karel, a minor collision in the race will dash all hopes. I hope that Karel will quickly concentrate on the next round, as he is leaving for the USA in short time,' Michal Matějovský commented on the racing event at the Brno circuit.
