Maximum from Minimum

- 7. 10. 2012, Jarama, Spain -

After the bad Saturday, David entered the second day of the racing weekend having resolution to quickly forget. However, as it has become a custom, man proposes "circumstance" disposes ... despite both facts that Vršecký got to a point-scoring position in the second race on Sunday and Matějovský maintained the good twelfth notch.

David entered a timed practice session aiming to qualify for the super pole as fast as possible, which soon became true. "The car was damaged after the yesterday's shunt with Mariezcurrena, which resulted in worse manageability; now everything seems OK," said David contently after the first part of the session clocking the sixth fastest time. Then he bettered by one place defeating both Kiss and Lacko at the very finish. "It is the first time I have been enjoying a glorious feeling that I can devote myself just to racing. It is reflected on my performance straight away," added after the fight of those fastest tens. It was also Michal Matějovský who could feel satisfied despite the super pole gate has remained closed to him for the time being. Nevertheless, his time was better than Vojtíšek's.

Unfortunately, David could take delight in racing just five laps in the first cup race on Sunday. The beginning of this finish started just on the second bend. Bösiger driving in front of him braked sharply before driving into the bend; logically, Adam Lacko, his stable mate, driving next to him took advantage of that. When David was trying to overtake Bösiger on the outside line the Swiss driver led him off the track. The Hungarian driver Kiss was quick to exploit the chaos, naturally. "Certainly I can't prove his intention, nevertheless he is a skilled driver who never confuses pedals," claimed Vršecký who troubled the collision between the two specials more than the lost of the two positions. As it turned out later on, his worries did not prove groundless. His vehicle did not finish the fifth lap owing to the turbofan failure. "I would prefer not to pass comment at the moment, hard to say whether the cause of the failure was just the shunt with Bösiger. I might have never experienced such a weekend."Michal Matějovský's performance was as creditable as yesterday. Despite he lost three notches at the start because of troubles with gearing, he got to the fourteenth place.

David scored a few positive things. First, he came ninth in the finish, next he gained two points, so he has bettered his minimum from 2006 by one point. Finally, he did not go down to František Vojtíšek. "It is a horror that might be compared to what I have experienced here this year. Our team is still rated among big teams, I guess, and such teams have to be able to cope with that. Not only because Le Mans is awaiting us."

What to say about the race itself? Within seven laps, David made from the fifteenth (!!!) row to the ninth place; virtually it means to overtake twenty drivers. "I'd say it could have been faster, but the mechanics did not deserve a splintered car after all they had undergone here. Especially, because of we have to pack early in the morning. Mariezcurrena was far in front of me, and any potential effort to overtake would have been about shunts like yesterday. I do take the ninth place."

Michal Matějovský showed in the final race that despite the minimum of experience he is coming to understand better his five-ton truck. "The twelfth place is fine considering the demanding circuit and competition. I feel content; I got valuable pieces of experience; surely I have a lot to think about," summed up Michal his Spanish performance.
