Rotax Eurochallenge 2013 Open

- 27. 03. 2013, Genk, Belgium -

One of the most prestigious European karting events, entered by the highest number of competitors at a time, celebrates its 10th anniversary. The celebration is not a little one, vice versa: over two hundred participants in three categories (Juniors, Seniors, DD2) are on the entry list; thirty-four countries of six continents have their representatives in. The Czech Republic is represented by two pilots in the Juniors category, and by four in the Seniors category.

The entry list includes names kept at the forefront last year such as: Babington, Brand, Singleton and Webb, Great Britain; Barthon, France; Lehane, Australia; Detige and De Ruwe, Belgium; Hirooka, Japan; and Forman and Běžel, the Czech Republic. Also a few drivers taking part in the races last years are to re-enter this year's Rotax Eurochallenge 2013, e.g.: Varley, Great Britain; or Lukovic, Austria. The Czech Republic will also have drivers at the start-finish line, namely: Tomáš Salva (MS Kart Racing team) in the Rotax Max Juniors, and Jakub Kadlčák (Gregor Racing); Jiří Forman (Formula K England), Petr Běžel (MS Kart Racing Team), Petr Fulín (Uniq Racing), and David Rychtár (Gregor Racing) will be in the most numerous category (83 registered) Rotax Max Seniors.

Both yesterday's and today's test rounds show that all categories include many excellent drivers that equal; that is really much to look forward to! Tomorrow reaches the peak in the timed practice sessions; the qualification is scheduled on Saturday, and those qualified will enter the semi-final and the final on Sunday. Jiří Forman, the best Czech driver (8th place in total) last year, indicates his ambitions with some caution: "I feel surprised by how many drivers are on the start list in the Rotax Max Seniors category, and above all, by the competition. The weather is not that ideal, the temperatures are ranging around 5°C bellow zero, and to find an optimal kart set-up is fairly exacting. I'd like to follow my results from the end of the last season, and this year's Rotax Winter Cup, and to finish tenthish.
