Křenek Motorsport Team Heading for ETCC Racing Weekend 3

- 16. 5. 2013, Salzburgring, Austria -

Three weeks after the excellent performance the Křenek Motorsport team gave in Slovakia they are now heading towards a picturesque valley nearby Mozart's birthplace, where the third racing weekend of the European Touring Car Cup takes place.

The situation in the S2000 category has remained without change after the two opening racing weekends: a leader, Petr Fulín, is in a twenty-point lead over second Maťo Homola, and must mainly hold it now. However, it is not going to be easy on the Salzburgring. "The track is not that ideal, the circuit is short, and we'll be confronted with a problem with S1600 category back makers, who may break our perfect lap during the Q, and we'll have to overtake them during race. What's more, we have always had problems with tyres here," says Petr Fulín. His effort to follow the two last year's second places in the S2000 category will be more difficult due to the maximum level of compensation weight he is going to carry thanks to his success. "It's definitely going to be hard, as the weight has already held us back in Slovakia, and here we expect a lot of lighter cars, not speaking of those of the Single Make Trophy category that have turbo, and while going off chicanes they'll have advantage. That's why we're going to Salzburgring just for points, definitely, we can't think of a simple battle for podium, which might be difficult also because of the weather. The Salzburgring lies in a valley so it's not a big surprise when a cloud full of water appears and our rear-wheel drive one would suffer disadvantage in wet conditions," adds the Championship leader.

For Michal Matějovský, who is fourth in the S2000 standings now, the Salzburgring is just the chance to catch up with a five-point deficit to second Homola. But the forthcoming weekend will be a debut for this Hradec Králové's racing driver. "I was getting ready for the race mostly at home at the comp. I was watching videos and replays of the last year's races. But without a doubt it's gonna be different at the weekend. The track profile seems easy, but there might be sectors where one will win and another lose, and vice versa. The weather might play a role too as the forecast predicts it changeable," tips the course of the weekend Michal Matějovský. And comments on his aims: "Anything may happen, also Supercops will be on the track, which carved out the top notches last year. I don't want to speak to soon - I'm going to enjoy the debut, and I'll be happy to balance the result from Slovakia.

The two drivers from the Křenek Motorsport team, who has already learnt the ropes, will be joined by Jaromír Štádler, who is going to enter all remaining rounds this season after two he missed. "First, I wanted to be in all races, unfortunately, I had to refuse the first two rounds because of my family situation. Nevertheles, I take into account the next three weekends. Unlike other drivers, I'm not in a full flow, but I do hope I'll get into gear during practice sessions and I wont't disapoint. I was on the Salzburgring for the first time last year, and I had to pull out of the race; but I'm gonna be more careful this year," says the racing driver coming from Pilsen. Unlike his younger team mates he is not going in the S2000 category but is among those in the Single Make Trophy category, which is very strong this year. "I've seen video replays and there were four cars were in race last year, now it's eleven. What's more all drivers have already driven this year and they wanna show their backs to a veteran like me. Despite that I'm really looking forward to it," adds Jaromír Štádler.

All fans may watch the Czech drivers' performance via the news on Facebook, on Petr Fulín or VEKRA Racing Team, resp. Michal Matějovský web pages. The both of the races may be re-watched on Tuesday, 21st May at 7 p.m in Eurosport 2 TV channel.
