Day One of Grand Finals 2013 Qualifying Sessions Directed by Petr Běžel

- 14. 11. 2013, New Orleans, USA -

What has shown the Czech pilot Petr Běžel today is that the unlucky timed practice session did not affect his perfect condition. Starting his heats from the seventh position he made attack, and would get third place and second place. That means he will be in the final, no matter what the result of tomorrow's heat will be! Another Czech representative in the Senior Max category, Jiří Forman, started from Row 13 after the accident that had happened yesterday, unfortunately he would not manage to finish in better but 22nd place and 20th place. Virtually, due to these results he has no hope for the final.

In the Senior Max category went Jiří Forman, who, however, started from the 13th row. What is more, he did not started well; he had to go round a group of pilots instantly after the start, and would slump to the 30th place. Fighting Jiří was slowly moving ahead, but it was evident that he was lacking his self-confidence due to the yesterday's serious collision. Therefore he took 22nd place. "I was trying to get ahead, but all my body hurts, so I wasn't able to join battles fully; there's no way to make it otherwise from the back positions. I feel happy I finished without having a collision, despite my dream of being in the final is shattering," the Czech driver does not hide his disappointment.

Who "hoisted up the flag" in the following session was another Czech driver in this category, Petr Běžel. Despite starting from Row 7, he made slip ahead along the kerb to finish in the fantastic sixth place. Fighting and driving with no mistakes he even managed to move ahead to be classified in wonderful third place!

The Senior Max category was dominated by Petr Běžel, who was leading in his heat for several laps. After a battle he finished in the second place. "After first session I came to fully realised that I was able to compete here with the top. In another, I didn't bring myself to admit I would go somewhere at the back. I'm happy that thanks to results today I'll be in the final, so I can be calm in the final battles on Saturday," Petr Běžel comments on his perfect performance.

In another race, Jiří Forman did not fail to start well; fighting and overtaking he was moving around the 25th position to be the 18th two laps before the finish. Then, however, while overtaking he got a bit beyond the line and would finish in 12th place, as the races here are very tight. "I'm trying to attack; I was feeling a bit better than in the morning, however it's not enough to finish in a better place. I'll try to fight tomorrow to be in the front on the start grid, at least in the Second Chance," Jiří Forman says accepting reality.
