Skuz Storming Into ETCC, Czechs Among TC2 Category Leaders

- 18. 4. 2014, Le Castellet, France -

Before this year's European Touring Car Cup season, a Ukrainian-Russian couple, Igor Skuz and Nikolay Karamyshev, had got hold of the last year's Chevrolet Cruze cars belonging to the TC2T category, which launched them just to the ETCC lead. Skuz dominated in both today's free tests. Karamyshev took twice second place. There has been no one to beat them today. In the first test, Engstler in the third position lost nearly 1.2 seconds to Skuz coming first, whereas Grachev lost not fewer than 1.7 seconds. Both Czech drivers Petr Fulín and Michal Matějovský started a bit cautiously, however in another session they showed themselves by taking the first, resp. second place in the TC2 category.

The last year's vice-champion Maťo Homola's time was the fifth fastest in the TC2T category in the first test, but he bettered by one notch in another. His compatriot, Samuel Sládečka, finished in the third and fifth places in the TC2 category. The second test session had showed newer S2000 cars to their good advantage as five of the TC2T category cars took five first places. The gap between the TC2T and TC2 category was just over two seconds.
