Another Podium Finish For Fulín and Matějovský

Petr Fulín and Michal Matějovský won the second and third places at Slovakia Ring. Due to the absence of races on the Masaryk Autodrom, Brno, the FIA ETCC round on the Slovakia Ring actually is a home event for the Czech team Křenek Motorsport. Watching this season's Round 3 and Round 4 at Orechová Potôň over the weekend were over 20,000 onlookers and a lot of fans and partners of this Prague's team. The initial race on Sunday started with a wet 15-minute warm-up, whose standings read Petr Fulín and Michal Matějovský's times of 2:28.993 and 2:30.725. In two races that followed the drivers of Josef Křenek's team managed to win three positions in the TOP 3 including one victory.
It is Petr Fulín who has merit in this win, as he finished in the second place in wet Race 1 in S2000 class, and in another there was no rival to beat him, so until the last metres also Mao Homola was in feared of his win, however, he was driving a stronger turbo. "I was driving it safe in first wet race, and from the conditions aspect it was maximum I could get. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the second. I was surprised with the speed of cars with turbo, therefore I let Homola pass me not to spoil turbos' race. After all they have as many as sixty horsepower more. Finally, me and Mao were fighting for the first place until the finish line, and it was a perfect race indeed," Petr Fulín appraised his Sunday's performance.
Michal Matějovský had given an excellent performance too, as he took the third place in Race 1 losing a bit to Petr Fulín, then was classified fourth in Race 2. "Both races were perfect; it was a pity about the second one because I got blocked by cup Seats before entering first turn and had to brake sharply. I lost several positions, which was then very hard to catch up with. Moreover, when finishing Race 2 a flying-off stone hit the left side window, shards of shattering glass hurt my hand, so I had to get treated by doctor after the race. Yet, I'm satisfied and leaving Slovakia Ring having marvellous feelings. I'd like to thank all partners and fans for their unfailing support, and to invite them to watch next two races held in two weeks' time on the Salzburgring in Austria," said Michal Matějovský supported also by Karolína Chomistekova, a Vice-Miss Slovakia, who had come there as his fan, and had posed for photographer next to Michal's car on the start grid on Sunday.
Josef Křenek: "The Slovak racing weekend deserves positive appraisal. The technical equipment ran perfectly, and both pilots showed a perfect racing drives. Michal Matějovský made progress, especially in Race 1 when he was in a battle for victory until the last lap. But also Petr Fulín, who had had no rival in Race 2, was perfect. Thanks to their performance we were able to get a podium finish and to win a cup for the best nation, now for the second time. Special thanks go to drivers but also to each member of our team. All of them did a perfect job, otherwise we would have not been able to get such results."
After this weekend, Josef Křenek team's drivers are taking the second and the third positions in the standings, and the cup for winning the Nations' Cup competition. Petr Fulín was also the fastest lap driver in Race 2 (2:15.527). He has notched up 45 so far, beating Petr Rikly on17 points now. Michal Matějovský with 19 points on the fourth place.
