Svoboda's Tatra Is To Enter Season Fitted With New GyrTech Engine

Snow is still covering the Broumov region, but the local Svoboda Tatra Team have nearly geared up for the forthcoming season. Their "Dakar" Tatra was fitted with a new engine GyrTech last week, now they are busy with final preparations for their first rally in this season.

To while away the waiting time, the team's boss, Václav Svoboda, took part in the Dakar Rally in Southern America as a member of the Rally OZ team to be of assistance to Czecho-Australian, Peter Jerie. "It was great experience. I'm happy to be given the opportunity to be in another rally after the OiLibya Rally in Morocco, where I went with my team in the autumn last year. The Dakar really is the hardest event in the rally sphere. Although I mainly devoted myself to lend a hand to Petr Jerie's team and his vehicle Toyota Hilux, I had opportunity to get familiar with the Czech teams' job, especially that of Martin Kolomý driving the Tatra "Fat Boy", and his team, Buggyra. I do believe, we'll be able to use experience we've gained for representing our team well in European or African events, so we're aiming to be among the top," said Václav Svoboda during their winter preparations in the team' s garage.

The Svoboda Tatra Team is fairly likely to accomplish their ambitious aims set for 2015, as co-operating with the Buggyra stable from the town of Roudinice, they have installed a new engine GyrTech in their Tatra, the one Martin Kolomý's "Dakar special, Tatra Fat Boy is fitted with, too. Václav Svoboda decided for this engine after the last year's rally in Africa. "What we found out in the autumn in the Rally OiLybia Morocco is that it's just the engine which is our vehicle's weakness. No problem had occurred with the original Tatra engine in races in Europe, and we had finished in the top places in Poland, Hungary or Germany. However, in the harsh conditions in the Sahara, the engine just died ... Although our Tatra was going excellently during the first stages, we had to withdraw ... I know, the chassis and other components are good enough to compete with the best vehicles and their drivers. So, we have a top power part now, and the Buggyra is gonna provides us with excellent service. We've had this new engine only for a few days, so we'll put in effort to fit the engine, so that our Tatra would be in working and we could set off for first tests at the end of February," was Václav Svoboda's comment on the current situation in the Svoboda Tatra Team.

The team are leaving for African Tuareg Rally (Morocco, 7th-14th March 2015) soon, then they will enter the onerous Cross Country Rally Europe Cup. But Svoboda's "Dakar" Tatra is to appear in some promotional events in the Czech Republic.
