Matėjovský Departs From Zolder Unbeaten

- 20.9. 2015, Zolder, Belgium -

Michal Matėjovský notched up all victories in another round of the FIA European Touring Car Cup in category Super 2000 TC2 that had been possible to capture. Michal was wished good luck by a Czech EU commissioner, Vėra Jourová, who had arrived from Brussels at the racing circuit at Zolder on Sunday morning. Matėjovský had succeeded in Qualifying on Saturday, then in both Sunday's race, so scored another considerable 23 points.

Michal was able to keep up with rivals driving more powerful cars in Race 1 on Sunday. He had been circling in the fifth position for long. Then the leading Georgian driver Davit Kajaia was forced to slow down so Matėjovský would get forth position overall, and would reign the class again. "The car worked excellently. No dramas unfolded at all," said Matėjovský, who had increased a lead over his nearest rivals Rikli and Okyay by nearly thirty seconds.

Race 2, however, was going to be a thrilling one. Starting from the third row, Matėjovský was aware of pursuing Rikli and having the threesome most powerful Seats driven by Matėj Homola, Dušan Borkoviæ and his teammate Petr Fulín. What was the strategy to decide on? "To survive, above all," stated Michal Matėjovský having a smile on his face. "We've agreed that the best thing to do is to keep a cool head and avoid hazardous blocking. Yet the first five laps were a sort of scrum. But I hugely enjoyed racing itself. We were keeping on in a huddle; there was no shortage of contacts. But everything was absolutely fair." The key moment came just at the end of this stage: "Faster cars were passing Rikli and I took advantage of that. I was going to attack and I pushed through in a chicane behind horizon..."

Matėjovský finished in the first place in category Super 2000 TC2 having a twenty-seven margin over his nearest rival Peter Rikli, Switzerland. "I'd like to thank all team for their job. It's not just cliché. The car had been fined perfectly, so the weekend was a success," summed up the Belgian episode of the European Touring Car Cup series Michal Matėjovský.
