Michal Matėjovský Is To Go For Fight-For-Title Ride

- 7, 10. 2015, Hradec Králové, CZE -

The FIA ETCC final-act curtain is slowly rising. Michal Matėjovský is to fight decisive battle for the champion title in Super 2000 TC2 category on the Sicilian circuit Pergusa (also known as Enna-Pergusa). He is in a most excellent chance. Providing the final round was not double-point awarded he could start celebrating. Nevertheless, he must beware of his nearest rival, a Swiss driver Peter Rikli due to that.

"It's only yesterday when I came back from Beijing where I had taken part in the local truck racing championship. I'm feeling fine, and I'd like to stamp this season's results, and to notch up more podium finishes. I hope it'll happen; first and foremost I must finish both races. It doesn't necessarily mean to flutter somewhere at the back ... I'll try not to get involved in a sort of stupid collision, especially during the first critical after-start moments," explained Michal Matėjovský who is going to rely on his BMW 320si geared by the Køenek Motorsport team.

He has already got familiar with that track nearly five kilometres in length lying close to Mount Etna Volcano, which hosted also F1 non-championship races in the past. "Uneven surface, different sorts of asphalt, frequent kerb mounting. Cars badly suffer there. Especially tyres get worn out. We'll definitely tune shock absorbers adjustment. Luckily we have enough pieces of data we've collected so we can base upon them."

The form of the racing weekend is not that usual one, since both Qualifying and point-awarded races are scheduled for Sunday. Luckily, this could bring benefit for Michal Matėjovský after that tiring long-distance flight from China. "I'm leaving for Sicily felling confident that I'll make it. I'll do my best to succeed," said Michal Matėjovský before leaving for Italy.

The ETCC results, category Super 2000 TC2:
1st Michal Matėjovský (CZ, BMW 320si) 111 points
2nd Peter Rikli (CH, Honda Civic FD) 84 points
