Michal Matějovský Is To Enter New Season

- 25. 01. 2013, Hradec Králové -

Based on experience gained in the last year's season, Michal Matějovský, an automobile racing driver, and his management team decided in 2013 in favour of entering all series of the FIA European Touring Car Cup 2013, and to follow in the success achieved in 2012, when he, the first Czech ever, won the round of the series FIA ETCC (Slovakiaring, Slovakia). The whole project FIA European Touring Car Cup aims to follow in the tradition of the former races, the European Touring Car Championship, organised until 1986 (also in Brno, Czechoslovakia), and being highly popular. Matějovký will drive together with Petr Fulín in Josef Křenek's team in the BMW 320si car; the targets he has set for the coming season are unambiguous: the podium finish in the total placing, and the win for the Czech Republic in the competing countries' ranking.

The driver is now finishing winter preparation, and late in February he is to test his new car on the racing circuit in Monza, Italy, where also the first round of this year's series FIA ETCC takes place on 23rd - 24th March 2013. Next rounds are held on the Slovak circuit, Slovakiaring (27th - 28th March); the Salzburing, Austria (18th - 19th May); and on one of the Italian circuits in mid-July (13th - 14th July, TBA). The series will be completed on the domestic circuit in Brno on 5th - 6th October 2013.

"Speaking of the FIA ETCC, I have been just guest driver in the series so far, driving Alfa Romeo in one test race in 2007, or SEAT Leon 2,0 TDi I enjoyed success in round two in Slovakia last year. In the coming season, I'm gonna enter all rounds of the series with a special BMW 320si that has - unlike previous cars - a rear-wheel drive, but I do believe I'll be able to get used to the change fairly fast," said Michal Matějovský before this year's season start.

Apart from the racing within the series FIA ETCC 2013, the driver coming from the city of Hradec Králové will continue the successful collaboration with the team from the town of Roudnice, Buggyra. Their mutual cooperation started last year with two bright starts (Most, Czech Republic; Jarama, Spain); Matějovský will also be the Buggyra team's test driver this year. However, the decision upon his participation in any round of the series FIA European Truck Racing Championship 2013 will be taken during the year.
