CZECHOSLOVAK MOTORSPORT IN 2013

In 2013, the joint-stock company ČESKOSLOVENSKÝ MOTORSPORT, a.s. Hradec Králové (CZECHOSLOVAK MOTORSPORT) will continue circuit racing on domestic and European circuits with both permanent drivers Jiří Forman and Michal Matějovský.

Jiří Forman in 2013

Jiří Forman has been offered to become the Formula K England official driver in 2013. Therefore the decision has been reached to carry on karting one year more, at least, and to focus on the events as follows:

  • Rotax Winter Cup
  • Rotax Euro Challenge 2013
  • " British Karting Championship, category Rotax Seniors Max (selected rounds)
  • CIK FIA KF2 (pre-races in WSK and World Championships series)

Kart racing within the Czech Republic is a thing apart as the form of the Rotax races in the Czech Republic does not seem clear, therefore Jiří Forman will decide according to the particular situation.

In addition to karting, Jiří Forman will prepare himself for a change-over to circuit racing. The ČSMS will introduce the programme of the pre-phase for the year 2013 during the first quarter of the year.

Michal Matějovský in 2013

Based on experience gained in the last year's season, Michal Matějovský , an automobile racing driver, and his management team decided in 2013 in favour of entering all series of the FIA European Touring Car Cup, and to follow in the success achieved in 2012, when he, the first Czech ever, won the round of the series FIA ETCC (Slovakiaring, Slovakia). The whole project FIA European Touring Car Cup aims to follow in the tradition of the former races, the European Touring Car Championship organised until 1986 (also in Brno, Czechoslovakia), and being highly popular. Matějovký will drive together with Petr Fulín in Josef Křenek's team in the BMW 320si car; the targets he has set for this year's season are unambiguous: the podium finish in the total placing, and the win for the Czech Republic in the competing countries' ranking.

What will await Matějovský as soon as the winter preparations have been finished is shakedown drives in his new car BMW 320 SI on the racing circuit in Monza, Italy, late in February, where also the first round of this year's series FIA ETCC takes place on 23rd - 24th March 2013. Next rounds are held on the Slovak circuit, Slovakiaring (27th - 28th March); the Salzburing, Austria (18th - 19th May); and on one of the Italian circuits in mid-July (13th - 14th July, TBA). The series will be completed on the domestic circuit in Brno on 5th - 6th October 2013.

Apart from the racing within the series FIA ETCC 2013, the driver coming from the city of Hradec Králové will continue the successful collaboration with the team from the town of Roudnice, Buggyra. Their mutual cooperation started last year with Matějovský's two bright starts (Most, Czech Republic; Jarama, Spain); he will also be the Buggyra team's test driver this year. However, the decision upon his participation in any round of the series FIA European Truck Racing Championship 2013 will be taken during the year.
