Matějovský and Fulín Bringing Back Also First Place Nation's Cup

- 14. 7. 2013, Pergusa, Italy -

The win in the Qualifying Session, the gold and silver from Race 2, that is Petr Fulín's review of the European Touring Car Cup's racing weekend on the Autodromi di Pergusa. Fulín scoring 21 points in total won the overall standings followed by Maťo Homola, Slovakia, and Dušan Borković, Serbia. Another driver of the Prague's team, Křenek Motorsport, Michal Matějovský, took the sixth place in the overall standings thanks to the fifth and eighth place. Fulín and Matějovský are bringing back another trophy as an added bonus: the win in the Nation's Cup re-taking the first place before Russia and Slovakia.

The Křenek Motorsport team's drivers had been the fastest of the whole field since the beginning, which would be proved by the fastest time of 1:52.680 Petr Fulín set in Race 2. The Championship FIA ETCC has just one racing weekend to happen, the venue of which is the Autodrom Brno, on the first weekend in October (5th-6th October). Now, Petr Fulín (66 pt) is leading the standings by eight points to Maťo Homola (58 pt). Michal Matějovský gaining 28 points is now on the fifth place.

Petr Fulín: "I must thank all team, they'd prepared the car that I was delighted to drive. I did enjoy the weekend in Pergusa, and I think we've made up for the disappointment in Salzburgring. Race 1 was perfect; I made start well, then it was just about keeping the lead until the finish. Race 2 was fairly tougher, but, I guess, more attractive for spectators. Unluckily for me, shortly before the finish a minor collision had happened, a contact with a slower car, due to I missed the chance to attack the first position and had to defend second place instead."

Michal Matějovský: "What a pity that first race. I started well and made get to Igor Skuz's bumper. He, however, sharply slowed down before a chicane and I had to put on brakes just at the moment when the rear wheel of my car was on the kerb. The car got a spinout and I lost. Race 2 was better for me; I made start well again and got behind Skuz thanks to keen times. However, I didn't manage to find recipe for overtaking him during the race. I'd like to thank all people from our team for their excellent job during the whole weekend."

Josef Křenek, team's boss: "After we'd checked the track on Friday we were worrying about incidents that may happen, but we told ourselves we would feel happy about the race finished without accidents. Now, I'm glad we've made a good result and could leave feeling satisfied. Despite we went a minimum laps in tests and practice sessions due to those worrie,s both of our drivers were among the fastest of the whole field during the both of the days. I'm glad the last event of the championship takes place at home, in Brno, so we may showcase ourselves in this final round just in front of our fans."
