Michal Matějovský Securing in Spa Second Position in FIA ETCC Championship

Last weekend a Belgian town Spa hosted last but one round of the FIA ETCC 2014 championship. The races there presented another challenge for the Krenek Motorsport team's drivers, Petr Fulín and Michal Matějovský, on their route to European points and defending their title. The ETCC championship had been hold in SPA for the first time, therefore the track was actually a dark horse for most of the drivers.

Petr Fulín is bringing back 23 points, which is maximum possible to earn during one weekend. Michal Matějovský had been the fourth to cross the finish line in Race 1 bettering his position by one notch in Race 2, so he gained 11 points, which would yield the third podium finish behind Petr Fulín and Samuel Sládečka.

The Standings after the round: Petr Fulín, 82 pt., Michal Matějovský 48 pt., and Peter Rikli 38 pt. Points gained in Pergusa will double, which means there are 46 points to be earned, and Petr Fulín has a 44-point lead over Peter Rikli.

Petr Fulín: "The weekend was not a bad one. I really like it here in Spa, and to be honest, I hugely enjoyed both of the races, first of all the first three, four laps in both races. I'm happy I've succeeded this year in getting maximum points first in my life, which draws me closer to the win in the championship."

Michal Matějovský: "I achieved what I'd set before the weekend. I made no mistake, and finished before my rivals in each of the races. Therefore I've managed to secure the second position in the Standings. I'd like to thank all team for their support, but thanks also go to our fans."

Josef Křenek: "We've made a great leap towards defending the title today. We could see two extremely thrilling races that surely topped the WTCC races as to attractiveness. Both drivers showed again they belong to the top in Europe, so I gratefully thank them. I also thank all team for their attitude and perfect performance."
