Readers of Deník Make Matějovský Star
A gala-evening, where the results of a survey called "The 2015 Greatest Sportsperson of the City of Hradec Králové" were announced, was now held in the Hradec Králové Philharmonic's Hall on Monday, 22 February 2016, from 6 p.m. onwards. Michal Matějovský was announced the winner of the readers of the Královéhradecký deník's voting so made "The Readers of the Deník's Star", the competition that is organized within the survey "The 2015 Greatest Sportsperson of the City of Hradec Králové". Presented during that evening was also a range of other awards, such as the award for the ten top individuals, three groups, handicapped sportspeople, and many more. One celebrity was inducted in the Hall of Fame.
The thirty-year-old racing pilot, Michal Matějovský, who had won the FIA European Touring Car Cup in Category 2000 TC2 last year, and who had been given the highest number of votes from readers of The Deník, went twice on the Hradec Králové Philharmonic's stage during that gala evening, for the second time to accept the prize for the sixth place in the category the most successful single sportspeople of Hradec Králové. Answering journalists' questions, Matějovský said later in the evening: "The win in the readers' survey had given me a lovely surprise, therefore brought me more intense pleasure. I feel happy sports fans have clocked my results in the European Championship where I represent Hradec Králové and my homeland. My thanks go to everybody who's given me their votes. I've been among the best in sports survey for a few years, however, it's clear that the competition from those in Olympic sports, like athletes, shooters or judoists, as well as football or hockey players, is very strong. I value a lot that I've made it among the "top ten" best sportspeople. I congratulate all of the awarded on their success.
The gala evening, hosted by a TV Prima's presenter Radek Šilhan, saw a rich programme where performers like Lešek Semelka or Andrea Mea and many more were onstage. Visitors were provided with a feast held in the rooms of the Hradec Králové Philharmonic at the end of the evening.
