Defending champion Forman got ahead at the opening race at Hungaroring
Due to the repair and refurbishment works that are under way at both of the Czech Republic's racing circuits, the opening event of the International Racing Circuit Championship of the Czech Republic took place at the well known Hungaroring circuit on 19 - 20 April 2008. Racing driver Miroslav Forman, once again with the AUDI A4 ST car, under the colours of the ČSMS team, was doing very well in both races and achieved the first success in defending his 2007 Championship title in the 2000cc category of Division 4 of the Racing Circuit Championship of the Czech Republic. In the first race, on Saturday, on a wet track, he claimed the second place, behind Dan Michl, with a 'Michl 08/01' car, ahead of third-placed Werner Huber, of Germany, with an AUDI A4 ST. On Sunday, the weather was more favourable, with a rather warm temperature and somewhat cloudy sky, and the track was dry. However, the top three placings of the Sunday race were exactly the same as those on Saturday.
The ČSMS team's driver Miroslav Forman was satisfied after the first weekend racing event. He said: 'I must admit that we were a little bit worried before we set out on the journey to Hungaroring to the first racing event because our new mechanics had had no opportunity to gather enough experience. However, we were pleasantly surprised to see them doing their work in an excellent manner. Everything was running perfectly. Our team won recognition and we even outperformed the cars from Germany in both races. I have more experience driving in dry conditions, however, even the first race in the incessant drizzle turned out well for me. This is valuable experience and I am sure that I will be able to put it to good use in the next races. On the whole, I think that we have made the first, successful move in defending the Championship title. After the opening racing event at Hungaroring, we will do our best to achieve fine results in the upcoming races of the International Racing Circuit Championship of the Czech Republic as well.'
