SEAT León Eurocup is beginning

On Friday, 16 May 2008, the brand-new SEAT León Eurocup series started with the free practice sessions of its opening racing event at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, Spain. The only Czech driver to contest this series is Michal Matějovský, of the Czech-Spanish SUNRED-BRT team.

'Today, we have taken part in the two opening practice sessions. In the first one, I came eighth, with a time of 1: 46.435. In the second one, I moved up to the fourth place, with a time of 1: 48.002. The first session, attended by 27 drivers, was held in dry weather conditions. The second one, attended by 24 drivers, took place after a rain, on a track which was gradually drying up,' Michal Matějovský, of the SUNRED-BRT team, commented on his debut in the SEAT León Eurocup. And, to sum up, he added: 'I think that my first appearance in this series was rather positive. Let's hope that everything will turn out well tomorrow in the qualifying and, in particular, in the afternoon race, which will start at 14.45.'
