Michal Matějovský's first experience of a city street circuit

A driver of the Czech-Spanish SUNRED-BRT team, Michal Matějovský has today gained his first experience of a city street circuit by coming thirteenth in the afternoon race of the second round of the SEAT León Eurocup series at Pau in the south of France. This is the first time Michal has taken part in a race of this type. He has achieved the fine result despite the collision on Lap 1. In the morning qualifying that preceded the race, Michal was twelfth, with a time of 1:38.038.
'This is the first time I have been here and, really, I am not very familiar with this circuit. I am still struggling with this narrow track. However, I keep improving my times. It is apparent that the drivers who had experienced this circuit before have a great advantage. I think that this is a rather dangerous circuit to drive, and we have seen a number of crashes. I managed to finish the race and the car suffered only a few scratches. However, the car's front axle was seriously damaged, which substantially affected the car's behaviour in the rest of the race. The weather was uncertain today. The qualifying session took place on a wet track and, at the time of the first race, the track was dry. So we are still trying to find the optimum car set-up. I hope that we will manage tomorrow and that fortune will smile on us. I would not like to get involved in a collision agaian,' Michal Matějovský commented on the course of the Saturday race.
