The FIA WTCC racing event in Brno is to be started within a few hours
Michal Matějovský and his Spanish-Czech SUNRED-BRT team are very busy these days. The team's mechanics were working hard the whole day on Wednesday to complete the preparation of the Seat car of the WTCC racing specification for the Thursday testing event and the weekend races. Then, overnight, the yellow-painted car had to be coated with special foils in the team's silvery, red and black colour shades. This task was performed by the technicians of the ATHIS printing works based in Prague. And, in the meantime, the young racing driver from Hradec Králové was in a hurry to cope with a number of promotional events.
One of them was a kart race, which aroused great interest of the public media. This was a contest of two drivers: Michal Matějovský was competing with Karel Abrahám, a rider of the 250cc category of the Grand Prix motorcycling championship. The race took place at noon on Wednesday at the minibike track of the Automotodrom Brno circuit. Of the two drivers, it was Michal who made a better start. Abaja, however, accomplished a swift overtaking manoeuvre and took the lead after a while. Despite Michal's numerous attempts, he managed to defend his position up to the finish.
On Thursday, once again at noon, Michal Matějovský, as the only Czech driver that had been entered for the FIA WTCC series' racing event in Brno, took part in the press conference in the Automotodrom Brno company's V.I.P. lounge. This event was attended by the WTCC series' prominent organizers and top drivers. The drivers, as they had gained certain experience of the circuit before coming to the press conference, praised the high quality of the new tarmac.
