Matějovský did not fall behind the world's top drivers

The Saturday program of the FIA WTCC racing event in Brno included two free practice sessions held in the morning, and the afternoon qualifying for the Sunday races. Michal Matějovský got off to a good start in the free practice by setting times that put him among the top five of the ten drivers that are not directly supported by the respective car maker. In the first free practice, Michal Matějovský, with a time of 2:12.456, came 19th overall (fifth among the drivers not supported by the respective carmaker). In the second one, Michal improved his time to 2:11.892 to come 18th overall (once again, fifth in the category of independent drivers).
The qualifying was held on Saturday afternoon, in fine, sunny weather. Michal continued his series of fine achievements by improving his lap time to 2:11.232 to come 19th overall (fourth in the category of independent drivers). This fine result put him in the tenth row of the grid of his FIA WTCC debut race, which will start at the Automotodrom Brno circuit shortly after the noon on Sunday.
