Collisions prevented Matějovský from defending a point-scoring position on Sunday

The top eight drivers lined up on the starting grid of the fourteen-lap race on Sunday in reverse order. This put Matějovský into a more favourable sixth position. He made an excellent start once again and, by the first bend, moved up to the third position! But the situation changed completely a few moments later.
'When I was driving through one of the subsequent corners, my car was hit from behind suddenly. Consequently, it was beyond control for a moment and went off the track,' Matějovský explained the situation after the race. However, he managed to return on the track and started chasing his rivals. After several laps he drew level with them again. When he was overtaking one of the drivers ahead of him, in the first left-hand bend behind the home straight, there was another collision and Matějovský, approximately in the middle of the race, had to retire due to the damage suffered by his car.
Despite this unlucky event in Race 2, the Czech driver was satisfied with the overall results of this weekend racing event, and said 'We have attained a good result at last. Now I know that a podium spot is well within my reach. This is important. I hope that this is not my last success of this kind in this season.'
