Matějovský's first race with a diesel-powered Seat
An interesting experience for racing driver Michal Matějovský was his participation in the well-known 'Zdeněk Vojtěch Memorial' touring car racing event, which took place within the FIA Grand Tourismo contest at the Brno Masaryk Circuit from 13 to 14 September 2008.
Seat Sport Slovakia prepared a Seat Leon TDI race car for this racing event and invited Michal Matějovský, the only Czech driver contesting the Seat Leon Eurocup series, to take the wheel in one of the races. 'We have approached this racing event as a test. This is a new, unused car. We were trying, together with my mechanic Zdeněk Bartoš, to use all our experience and find the optimum set-up. I would like to thank our partners from Slovakia for this excellent opportunity that allowed us to get familiar with the diesel-powered Seat car,' the Czech driver said after the race.
The weekend racing event at the Brno circuit comprised two races. Michal Matějovský took part in the first one, held on Saturday. He claimed the fifth place in his category. In the Sunday race, the car was driven by Slovak driver Vladimír Hybáček, who came fifth as well. Our cooperation with Seat Sport Slovakia will continue after this racing event, and you will be able to see this beautiful race car next week, once again at the Brno circuit, on the occasion of its debut in a three-hour race.
