I was confident of Hamilton's success

It was with great thrill that Michal Matějovský, a great fan of the McLaren team, watched the final F1 race at Sao Paulo, Brazil. That is, Michal has personal ties to McLaren that date back to the period when he gained his first experience of racing circuits abroad. At that time, when he was ten years old, McLaren offered him the opportunity to try the driver's seat of a genuine race car, just one day before the F1 event at Hockenheimring in 1998. Moreover, this year was the beginning of Michal's relationship to Lewis Hamilton, as both of them, at that time, were contesting British kart races under the colours of the same team, ZIP Kart.

'I am very glad about Lewis' success at the Brazilian GP,' said Michal Matějovský, and went on: 'Naturally, I kept my fingers crossed for him in the previous season, when he missed the title by a very narrow margin. I think that he really deserves the title. He is a great talent. From the kart races, he has been among the very best. Congratulations!'
