On Friday, 14 November 2008, at a ceremony held at the Brno Masaryk Circuit, the Minister of the Interior of the Czech Republic, Mr Ivan Langer, and the President of the Police of the Czech Republic, Mr Oldřich Martinů, handed over 680 new cars to the Police of the Czech Republic. The total amount includes 500 Octavia cars of a police version, 100 Octavia cars of a standard version, and 80 vans for the traffic police.

After a press conference, all those present had an opportunity to take a ride on the track of the Brno Masaryk Circuit, in a new car driven either by a policeman or by one of three well-known racing drivers, that is, Karel Abraham, Michal Matějovský, and Jarek Janiš. Furthermore, the guests could see an exhibition of veteran police cars, which documented the police car design development up to the year 2008. The new fleet completely filled up the parking space of the Masaryk Circuit premises. Instead of the gaily-coloured trucks of famous motor sport teams, the paddock area was covered with Octavia cars arranged to form a 'P1000' sign to remember the name of the project that provided for the delivery of the new cars for the Police of the Czech Republic. Afterwards, at the command of Mr Ivan Langer, the cars passed a ceremonial ride along the Masaryk Circuit and set out for their journey to the individual police stations across the Czech Republic.
