The last race of the 2009 SEAT Leon Eurocup series took place in the morning on Sunday, 20 September 2009, in sunny weather. On Saturday, Michal Matėjovský finished the race with a damaged car. After the race, moreover, a fault at the engine inlet was detected, which had caused the engine to loose power in the Saturday race. This all meant that Michal only came eleventh on Saturday.

On Sunday, Michal Matėjovský started Race 2 from the sixth row of the grid. Unfortunately, he had to retire from the race at an early stage. 'Right after the start, on Lap 1, I fought a battle with Markin, of Russia. We were running side by side. When I applied the brakes at the beginning of Lap 2, on a track section covered with rubber, the front wheels of my car got locked. My car went off the track and the steering linkage rod bent. I had to withdraw from the race. This has been a difficult racing event. I have been dogged by bad luck from the middle point of the season. I hope that this series of unlucky events has ended with this race,' said Michal Matėjovský after the weekend racing event at Imola. Despite the unlucky final stage of the season, Michal Matėjovský, compared to the previous year, has improved his position by moving up, among the top ten drivers. This year of the SEAT Leon Eurocup series was contested by almost 30 drivers. Of them, 23 managed to score at least one point. Michal Matėjovský, with 27 points, claimed the 9th place of the overall standings of the drivers.
